We need community impact reporting

Petaluma is as famous for its innovative spirit as it is for its charm. In 1975, Petaluma residents made history as the first city in the country to affirm our right to manage growth through the Environmental Design Plan, a challenge we took all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. And in 1998 residents voted to establish our urban growth boundary to reduce sprawl and create infill development.

OAKLAND -- Underscoring the urgent need to combat global warming, Attorney General Jerry Brown warned county leaders from across the state Tuesday that they must reduce greenhouse gases when planning new developments or run the risk of costly lawsuits.

Grow our local economy by attracting and retaining businesses that provide quality jobs

Fix our streets, improve our mobility and create safer walking and biking options

Strengthen public safety by partnering Police and Fire with neighborhoods

Protect our quality of life, local farms, rolling hills and watershed with our Urban Growth Boundary

Come up with a real solution to make Rainier work

We live in times of great change that will require us to connect, neighbor-to-neighbor, to protect our rich natural resources, local jobs, and cultural heritage. My 19 years raising a family in Petaluma have shown me our city’s passion for building community. The way we build a vibrant lasting community is determined by how we care for one another, where and how much we work, and where and how we shop and play.
